A Pennsylvania man, Daniel Barrett is in jail for admitting to kill his wife with a fire poker. He went to the Plymouth Police Department on Monday and was emotional and excited as he confesses to killing his wife Mary Barrett. He claims that his wife was cheating on him.
The police arrived at a home off of Gaylord Avenue and found blood throughout the house including trail of blood that lead to the basement. She was found lying lifeless on the floor with a hole in her head by the authorities.
According to the investigators, the man got into an argument with wife on Jan 9. He questioned her about the other man and allegedly she admitted to seeing someone else. He then punched her in the face and blacked out in fury. He said he was standing over her with fire poker in his hands and had a black rage. He said that he hit her many times with the poker before it became entangled in her body.
He then allegedly stabbed her in the back with a knife. An autopsy reported indicated that Mary Barrett’s death was caused by blunt force trauma.
He said that he washed his face and heard his wife making sounds so he dragged her to the basement. He said that he left her in the basement till Jan 10and then walked there and covered her with a sheet. Next day, he surrendered.
“She went out of her way to be friends with us. She is the most giving, kind person with a generous heart,” neighbor Allred Bringhurst said.
Daniel Barrett is held without bail at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. He’s been charged with criminal homicide.
