Doctors in Chicago were able to rescue an unborn baby whose mom, eight months pregnant, was shot dead early on Tuesday.
Just after midnight on the distressed South Side of the city, Stacy Jones, 35, was discovered to have fallen with two gunshot wounds on her back, police told the Chicago Tribune.
At the University Of Chicago Medical Center, where doctors tried to deliver her child, she was pronounced dead within an hour, the paper reported.
The kid was moved in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.
The Chicago city, like the Big Apple, has seen a dramatic rise in shootings this year. No motive for Jones’ murder was given.
